Welcome to DutchWingCraft

Helicopter License for Half the Price
The training to become a helicopter pilot at DutchWingCraft is significantly more affordable than at other helicopter flight schools. You can expect a reduction in training costs of around 50%. The theoretical training, radiotelephony, and language proficiency endorsement take place in the Netherlands (or another country if you prefer), while the entire practical training is conducted in France.

Fly Cheaper with Your Helicopter License
A membership with DutchWingCraft means flying much more for much less. Helicopter pilots want one thing above all: to fly a lot. However, for many, costs limit the number of flight hours they can afford each year. With the Xcellent Heliclub, DutchWingCraft offers licensed helicopter pilots the opportunity to reduce their flying costs by up to 70%—while massively increasing the fun factor.

If you obtained your license with us in France, you won’t even need a checkout on the club’s helicopters, since they are the same type as those used during your training.

Affordable flying for pilots with license

Xcellent heliclub_edited.jpg

After three years and countless attempts to launch a microlight helicopter training program in the Netherlands, along with the usual setbacks, DutchWincraft has decided to take a different approach... and after the summer of 2025, it will finally happen.

DutchWingCraft makes helicopter flying up to 70% cheaper, allowing pilots to fly many more hours for the same amount of money.

Our unique Xcellent Heliclub is a very accessible association where the aim is to help each other to make helicopter flying accessible to as many people as possible.

Members receive shared ownership of the DutchWingCraft-managed helicopter fleet based on their membership. This allows them to fly worry-free, with shared costs and every detail taken care of.

How does it work:

- Become a member of the Xcellent Heliclub

- Select a user package

- Get checked out after a thorough internal training on the helicopter

- After this check you can fly according to your user package

- DutchWingCraft and a number of members take care of everything around it

- Check in online on a device, after which it will be ready for you in top condition

- Even refueling can be done for you

In short, a "VIP service" for every helicopter pilot who is tired of bleeding money by an hour of flying.

(All together the shared costs for flying come to approximately €325 per hour including fuel and excluding additional costs for landing fees)

Note: Xcellent Heliclub memberships and flights are only possible in The Netherlands

Flight training

Get your helicopter license with us

DutchWingCraft is the only flight school that offers training for the EASA LAPL(H) and PPL(H) where you fly the Aerokopter AK1-3.

You complete the entire practical training through our new DTO in France. This is a fantastic experience because the regulations in France are very helicopter-friendly. After all, you want to fly helicopters to make the most of their unique capabilities!

Flying from idyllic airfields, navigation flights over hills, rivers, castles, and vineyards. Landing in castle gardens and confined areas in the forests… THIS is why training with DutchWingCraft is truly one-of-a-kind. You will learn all the ins and outs of helicopter flying and gain experience that would be impossible in the Netherlands.

We offer a complete and fully customized VIP training package, including transfers from the airport to the accommodation where you’ll stay, and of course an intensive flight program where, for example, you stay with us for a week and log approximately 20 flight hours. This immersive training format enables rapid progress in a short time. After 3–4 stays, you’ll be ready for your exam and earn your long-desired license with a type rating for the helicopter. If you'd prefer a shorter or longer stay or more frequent lessons, that's absolutely possible. Just contact us and we’ll create a personalized plan for you.

After obtaining your license, you can become a member of our Xcellent Heliclub in the Netherlands and fly the same type of helicopter you trained on. We also offer additional type ratings on other helicopters if desired.

Our story is simple: we just offer the most affordable helicopter pilot training in Europe.

LAPL(H)

The flight training for the LAPL(H) license consists of:

  • PPL(H) theory (online): 9 subjects with 7 exams

  • Practical training: 40 hours total, of which 35 in the helicopter type you’ll take the exam in

  • Minimum of 20 hours dual instruction (DUAL)

  • 10 hours supervised solo time, including at least 5 hours of solo cross-country flights

    • This must include at least 1 cross-country flight of 150 km, with a full-stop landing at an airfield other than the departure field

  • Radiotelephony (RT) course

  • Language Proficiency Endorsement (LPE) with exam

  • Practical exam for the LAPL(H) license

Note:

If you already have a LAPL(H) license and want to upgrade to PPL(H), you only need to complete the additional requirements (5 extra hours of dual instruction and a longer solo cross-country flight). This can of course be done with us.

Additional Training

In addition to the LAPL(H) and PPL(H) training, we also offer:

  • Flying in the French hills and mountains, where you learn to deal with wind, power lines, and changing weather

  • Confined Area Landing: training to land in small "spots" such as gardens of castles or vineyards. This is where you truly learn to use the helicopter for what it's made for

Usually, you fly solo or with one other person. In that case, the AK1-3 is an absolute joy to fly. In addition to being fun, this helicopter is also very safe, reliable, and affordable due to its low fuel consumption—just 30 liters of Euro 95/98 per hour.

The cost of using a helicopter in shared ownership is approximately €325 per flight hour (fuel included).
