PPL(H) training

The helicopter

DutchWingCraft offers PPL(H) certification instruction on the Robinson R44 helicopter. This is the most common four-seat helicopter for new pilots. It is an American-made helicopter and one of the most reliable helicopters available. Since 1975, over 6,400 helicopters have been produced and sold worldwide.

Medical certificate

Pilots with a PPL(H) must undergo a medical examination, after which you will receive a Class II medical certificate. This examination must be repeated regularly, depending on your age. We strongly recommend that you complete your initial examination before starting training, as without the medical certificate, you will not be allowed to fly solo or take your pilot's license exam!

The patent

At DutchWingCraft you can obtain the European EASA PPL(H) certificate, which allows you to fly helicopters with a European registration up to 5700 kg worldwide.

The training

The requirements for the PPL(H) pilot licence are listed below.

  • Theory: PPL(H): 9 theory subjects with exams at the CBR

  • Practical: 45 hours (minimum 25 hours instructor dual-time and minimum 10 hours solo)

  • 100 nm flight over land including 1 or 2 landings at other airports

  • Radiotelephony (RT) course with practical exam

  • Language Proficiency Endorsement: English language proficiency course with practical exam to demonstrate that you can communicate in English

  • Flight exam: practical exam for the PPL(H) certificate

Before you can take the practical exam for your pilot's license, you must have passed all the theory subjects.

With the EASA PPL(H) license, you can fly anywhere in Europe. This is the most comprehensive license for a helicopter pilot before it becomes commercial.

The costs

Helicopter flying lessons are expensive due to the high costs of the helicopter, maintenance and inspections, and fuel consumption. Nevertheless, we can offer you very reasonable rates for this training.

You can take the regular training course with us, as you would find at other flight schools. The cost of this course is approximately €38,000.

Looking for the most affordable way to obtain your PPL(H) certification? Then you've come to the right place at DutchWingCraft. We offer a unique route that saves you 25% on obtaining your PPL(H) certification. You'll first obtain your RPL(H) - MLH certification and then take the RPL(H) to PPL(H) conversion training. This reduces the cost of the training by approximately €10,000!

FAA
At DutchWingCraft, you can also obtain the American FAA PPL(H) license without any additional training or costs. So you get two licenses in one course.
